Hi, my name is Mikala McCarthy, formerly Atwell.  I have been a part of the Bristles family since April 2000.  I have been in the profession since 1997.  The art of helping people look their best is my passion in life.

I have extensive training in color, highlighting, multi-dimensional color, perming and haircutting.  My clientele range from 6 months to 85 years old.  The art of transformation is truly my specialty.

In the fall of 2004 I became an American Board Certified Master Colorist.  There are only 900 certified master colorists in the United States, and I am number 848!  This is truly an achievement that shows my drive to be the best Colorist/Stylist possible.  I continuously make education in color and cutting my first priority.  I attend as many educational programs as possible all across the U.S.

I have worked in four other salons since 1997, none were like Bristles.  Bristles & Shears is my home, we are like family.  We are a team-based salon.  Bristles is a wonderful place to be creative in!!!
