Susanna Spears   Level IV Hairdesigner

Not often in life does one find total satisfaction and contentment in his occupation.  I have found it in mine.  My mother raised my siblings and me in West Virginia.  In spite of financial struggles and family problems, she grounded us in the truth that we mustn't feel sorry for ourselves but must treat others the way we want to be treated.  In my teen years I was fortunate enough to travel to many countries on various mission trips - from an orphanage in El Salvador to the Amazon jungle.
I discovered a true passion inside for meeting the needs of others.  Receiving a full academic scholarship to Bridgewater College, I assumed that I would major in French and one day teach English as a second language in Northern Africa or Madagascar.  After September 11th happened my freshman year of college I became restless and decided that I wasn't pursing my dream fast enough.  I moved to Merritt Island Florida, where I studied for one and a half years at a Bible/Missionary Training Center.
One day when I was twenty I needed a simple trim.  The shampoo that I received was nice enough that a small part of me thought "I need to share this with the world."  It wasn't until then that I realized what an amazing outlet the field of cosmetology is to reach out and care for others.  In September 2005 I began an apprenticeship and received my cosmetology license one and a half years later.
Every morning I am delighted to arrive at Bristles & Shears and begin a new day of helping men and women achieve total wellness and become the people that they want to be.  I've developed quite a fondness for foiling, coloring, and waxing.  I've also been reminded of an old moral from The Tortoise and the Hare: Slow and steady wins the race.
When a client comes in for an appointment, it matters to me that time is taken to ensure quality before speed.  Every single person's needs become my needs.  I am determined to be an active listener and what is your priority becomes my priority.
